The list calls Mahindra “India’s richest self-made banker,” and he has a net worth of $14.3 billion. Besides Mahindra, other billionaires from India include Azim Premji, the Bajaj brothers, and Falguni Nayar.

    Another billionaire from India is Cyrus Poonawalla. He founded the Serum Institute of India in 1966, making it the world’s largest producer of vaccines. The company is currently developing two vaccines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in humans, and the Serum Institute of India has a substantial advantage over other research efforts. Poonawalla is the world’s sixth richest man in India.

    Mukesh Ambani is the world’s richest man in India, and the head of the Reliance Group. Mukesh Ambani is worth an estimated $102 billion. His net worth is derived primarily from his oil and gas business, and he is the grandson of Dhirubhai Ambani. Recently, Mukesh Ambani has begun to move toward consumer-facing businesses such as retail and telecom, with plans to raise $20 billion by 2020.

    Another billionaire from India is Gautam Adani. The commodities and infrastructure tycoon has added $40 billion to his fortune. He is the second richest man in Asia, and is investing heavily in renewable energy and infrastructure. His company Reliance Industries has reported a $200 billion annual revenue in recent years, and the tycoon has now moved to the eleventh position in the Bloomberg index. There are several other billionaire Indians in the Forbes and Bloomberg lists.
